Kope Formation Cyclonema Fossil
These partial fossil molds of the ancient gastropod Cyclonema were found in Carroll County, Kentucky. This snail existed in the Ordovician Period. The fossil was found in the Kope Formation. It is of the class Gastropoda, suborder Euomphalina, and superfamily Platyceratacea. The genus Cyclonema was named by James Hall in 1852. Usually the fossils I find in the Kope Formation are quite small but this fossil is almost 3.5 cm long. This fossil has part of fossilized shell.

Cryptolithus Trilobites of the Kope Formation
These pictures are of pieces of the Crytolithus trilobite found in the Kope Formation (Edenian Stage). The fossils were found in Carroll County, Kentucky USA and the trilobite existed in the Upper Ordovician Period.
They are mostly cephalon (head) plate fragments with one or two having some remnants of a glabella head piece.
t
TIME PERIOD:
Creature existed in the Ordovician Period (about 488 to 443 million years ago) defined by the English geologist Charles Lapworth in 1879 after the Welsh tribe called Ordovices. This period occurred in the Paleozoic Era (consists of: Cambrian, Ordovician, Silurian, Devonian, Carboniferous (in U.S. Mississippian/Pennsylvanian), and Permian Periods).
CLASSIFICATION:
The taxonomy of the Cryptolithus tessellatus (Green 1832)
Domain: Eukaryota
Kingdom: Animalia
Subkingdom: Bilateria
Branch: Protostomia
Phylum: Arthropoda
Class: Trilobita
Order: Asaphida
Family: Trinucleideae
Genus: Cryptolithus
HABITAT:
I found two papers North American Biogeography and Taxonomy of Cryptolithus(Trilobita, Ordovician) by Fredrick C. Shaw and Pierre J. Lespérance, Journal of Paleontology 68(4), 1994, pp. 808-823 and Viola Group (Ordovician Oklahoma) Cryptolithinid Trilobites: Biogeography and Taxonomy by Fredrick C. Shaw, Journal of Paleontology 65(6), 1991, pp. 919-935 that describe the Cryptolithus in more scientific detail.
They describe the habitat as being water of at least 30 meters (approximately 98 feet) in depth with muddy sediment. The trilobite was thought to be blind and a bottom feeder. In addition, it was isolated for millions of years in a cool water shelf like environment.
The Cryptolithus trilobite remains I find east of the Louisville, Kentucky area are in what is called the Kope Formation. I find small brachiopods, cepholopods, and crinoid stems with the Cryptolithus fossils.
Learn more about the Cryptolithus tessellatus trilobite at the Cincinnati Dry Dredger's website.

Kope Formation Crinoid Calyx
Finally I have found an Ordovician Period crinoid calyx. This calyx is from the Kope Formation of Carroll County, Kentucky. I am not sure on its identification, the Dry Dredgers of Cincinnati, Ohio have a good guide on Ordovician crinoids. Their site shows a number of fossils that look like it found in the Kope: Cincinnaticrinus varibrachialus, Merocrinus, and Ectenocrinus simplex.
Crinoid calyx and stem still in matrix. Hopefully, some prep work will reveal much more of this fossil covered by rock matrix.
