Isotelus Pygidium and Hypostoma

Here are two pieces of Isotelus Ordovician Period trilobite. I think my cousin found this in Carroll County, Kentucky in the Kope Formation.

I should have gotten some sort scale on the image. What attracted me to this fossil was the fragment of line texture still preserved on the hypostoma ("mouth plate" or food scoop).

Flexicalymene Trilobite - Kentucky

Here are some pictures of a specimen I have posted before but this view is of the pygidiums. Also these pictures were taken in full sun light while the previous batch were under fluorescent light. These pictures are of a cluster of the remains of three Flexicalymene trilobites preserved in the Kope Formation of Carroll County, Kentucky.

They still need more work with the engraver and air abrasive cleaner.

German Ichthyosaur Fossil

The following pictures are some I took while on a tour of the Cincinnati Museum Center Geier Collection and Research Center recently. The curator told us a group in Germany offered to give the museum this specimen if they would pay the postage. The museum agreed and here the fossil is still in its packing crate. One restriction mentioned is that fossils of pregnant Ichthyosaurs ("fish lizard") are not allowed out of the country.

It was a marine reptile from the Jurassic Period. It was a very nice gift from Germany.
