Heliophyllum Horn Coral with Aulopora

This fossil has been prepared with abrasive cleaning to reveal a nice Aulopora coral colony growing on a larger Heliophyllum horn coral. The fossil is from the Devonian Period and was found in Clark County, Indiana, USA. Thanks to Kenny for loaning it to me.

Indiana Horn Coral - Heliophyllum

Searching through horn corals I have collected in 2009 I hope to find a Bordenia knappi (Hall, 1882).  Instead I continue to identify Heliophyllum sp. (Hall) horn coral fossils. Here are some images of 4 more that seemed picture worthy.

These horn coral fossils were found Jeffersonville or Beechwood Limestone of Clark County, Indiana. They existed in the Devonian Period.

Here is a budding horn coral emerging from a parent horn coral.
