These pictures are of geodized crinoid calyx or horn coral from Heltonville, Indiana (approximately 86 driving miles to the northwest of Louisville, Kentucky). What I found interesting is that I found rocks like this in Lake Cumberland, Kentucky that must be geodized calyx pieces. I will need to find those and post them.

How does the "geodization" process work? It looks like it starts within the fossil and then pushed it outward. Like a fossilized explosion.
I have acquired a fossil which I believe is a goodies fossil calyx. It came from an estate sale in Miss. If I send pics, can you look at it and give your opinion?
Sure send the pictures to louisvillefossils@gmail.com and I will reply back.
Are these rock fossils worth anthing....i have one found in the NW Washington state?
Probably not. If it was highly crystallized and attractive maybe.
