Double Devonian Coral Fossil

This image is of two coral fossils. One is growing upon another, they appear to be Aulocystis frutecticosa on Thamnoptychia vermiculosa. They were found in the Beechwood Limestone of Clark County Indiana, USA. These fossils date to the Devonian Period.

Archimedes Bryozoan Fossil

Here is a nice fossil of an Archimedes bryozoan. It was found in Grayson County Kentucky USA. The fossil dates to the Mississippian Period. While this type of bryozoan fossil is not too rare, finding one with the screw shape with still attached mesh structure not embedded in matrix is.

Pinna lanceolata Bivalve Fossil

This image is identified as Pinna lanceolata (J. Sowerby) bivalve fossil. They were found in the Corallian Beds Lower Calcareous Grit Scarborough Yorks England. The fossil dates to the Mesozoic Era, Jurassic Period, Upper/Late Oxfordian stage.

Fossils were on display at the British Natural History Museum in London, England on August 2016.
