The Horn Coral Siphonophrentis elongata

Besides finding Halysites in the Silurian layer I also come across segments of a species of horn coral that was huge. This is a smaller segment that measures about 7 cm in diameter. It is from the Devonian period and was called Siphonophrentis elongata (Rafenesque & Clifford, 1820).  Found in central Jefferson County, Louisville, Kentucky USA. This fossil is found in the Jeffersonville Limestone.

Trimerus delphinocephalus Trilobite

Here is a trilobite found by a KYANA Geological Society (www.kyanageo.org) member on a field trip some years ago. It is a Trimerus delphinocephalus (Green) from the Silurian Period. It was found in the Waldron Shale layer in Clark County, Indiana.
