Diploria flexuosissima

 


These images are of Diploria flexuosissima (d'Achiardi, 1868) scleractinian coral fossil. They were found in Montecchio Maggiore, Veneto, Italy and dates to the Paleogene Period.

Stylocoenia emarciata Coral Fossil


This image shows a Stylocoenia emarciata (Larmarck, 1816) coral fossil. It dates to the Eocene Epoch, Paleogene Period (Bartonien) and was found at Lutétien-Grignon (Yvelines) France. It was displayed at Muséum National D'Historie Naturelle Jardin Des Plantes Paléontologie et Anatomie Comparée, Paris, France.  Image taken August 2009.

Harvard Notogoneus osculus Fish Fossil

 

This fossil was displayed on August 2022, at the Harvard Museum of Natural History in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. This fish fossil is called Notogoneus osculus (Cope, 1885). This specimen was found in the Green River Formation at Kemmerer Wyoming USA. It dates to the Eocene Epoch, Paleogene Period. Catalog number is MCZ5350 or VPF-5350.

Phareodus testis Fish Fossil


My trip earlier this month to Alpena, Michigan USA with several amateur paleontologists from Louisville and Chicago, we visited a local paleontologist Paleo Joe (aka  Joseph Kchodl). This picture is of one of his fish fossils from Kemmerer, Wyoming USA. This fossil is known as Phareodus testis (Cope, 1877). It was found in the Green River Formation and existed in the Eocene Epoch Paleogene Period.

Myliobatus Eagle Ray Toothplate Fossils

These images are of Myliobatus striatus? (Eagle Ray) fossils on display at Mace Brown Museum of Natural History (August 2017). They date to the Eocene Epoch (about 50-45 million years ago), Paleogene Period. The fossil was found in Santee Quarry, Harleyville, South Carolina USA.
