Calymene niagarensis Trilobite

These images are of specimens on display in the invertebrate fossil section of Muséum National D'Historie Naturelle Jardin Des Plantes Paléontologie et Anatomie Comparée in Paris, France.

I was attracted to these fossils since they came from Ohio which has similar fossils to those found around the Louisville, Kentucky area. It is neat that they have the same species of trilobite from both the Silurian and Ordovician Periods. The trilobite shown is the Calymene niagarensis.

This last image is blurry but I decided to include it since it shows another species of trilobite from Ohio on display at the museum. This one is an Ordovician Period Flexicalymene senaria.

Conularia From Louisville, Kentucky

Here is a Conularia fossil my cousin found in southern Jefferson County, Kentucky near the city of Louisville. It is from the Mississippian or Carboniferous Period. Found in the Borden Formation.

Pychnocrinus Crinoid Holdfast

Here is a fossil my friend Mary Ann found I believe in Carroll County, Kentucky at an Ordovician Period fossil road cut. That location would be Kope Formation.

My cousin prepared this piece with air abrasion but we were puzzled to actually what it is. The other day I came across Solius Symbiosus flickr site and saw his photo of a Pychnocrinus crinoid holdfast and decided this must be what this fossil is as well.

If it is not that genus then it at least appears to be some sort of crinoid holdfast.
