Calymene Trilobite After Cleaning
Here are pictures of a Silurian Calymene trilobite found in the Waldron Shale of Clark County, Indiana. It had quite a bit of glue residue on it from earlier prep work. The glue was needed after pieces of the shell broke from too much pressure being applied by the prepping needle. The matrix was downsized with a diamond saw. A micro-scribe was used to reveal more of the cheeks.
Check on the next post to see this fossil in its polished state.
Thanks to Kenny for help with finishing the prep work on this fossil.
Here is a history of some of the prep work done on this fossil.
