Brachiopods and Pyrite Crystals

 Silurian period brachiopods that I have not identified with embedded pyrite crystals.  Last two images should have been stacked plus still working on exposure of fossil on black background material.

A future post will show another specimen of this fossil without pyrite.  I am now starting to think it might be some sort of clam and not a brachiopod.

This post includes pictures of 19 different species of brachiopods found in the Waldron Shale of Clark County, Indiana.  They existed in the Silurian Period.  The Atrypa or Stegerhynchus are the most common found.

Pseudoatrypa Brachiopod with Lophophore

In the past, pictures have been presented of the Orthospirifer and Athyris with exposed lophophores.  This image is one of the few with Pseudoatrypa fossil with ring like structure of the lophophore fossilized and exposed.  Devonian fossil was found in Jeffersonville Limestone of Clark County, Indiana.
