Unknown Devonian Coral or Sponge

The following are some pictures of two pieces of rock that have 3 corals or sponges on them. They were found in the Devonian fossil area of Jefferson County, Kentucky. The fossils have been damaged by earth moving equipment and the rock was broken in two. One of the pictures shows the rock back together. It looks like they creatures existed together in three circular shapes.

Devonian Colonial Coral Favosites

Here is one of the best pieces I have ever found in Louisville, Kentucky. It is a large chunk of coral that measures about 11 cm long, 10 cm high, and 9 cm wide. It has lots of facets so I will have to post images of its other sides later.

This first picture looks like a honeycomb. The rock is mostly whitish-gray but has reddish-brown clay stains that I might try to remove with iron out.

This coral is called Favosites and is from the Devonian period.

Devonian Gastropod: Turbinopsis shumardi

My cousin has been finding Devonian snails called Turbinopsis shumardi in the Louisville, Kentucky area. This one is about 10 cm wide. It was found in the Jeffersonville Limestone.

This is a mold or cast of the gastropod's shell.
