The image of this mammal-like fossil was on display at the American Museum of Natural
History (AMNH) in New York City in July 2018. This animal is called
Lycaenops ornatus. The name means "wolf shape". It was found by
Robert Bloom (1866-1951) in 1928 at Biesjespoort Station, South Africa. The fossil dates to the Permian Period (255 million years ago). Specimen number is AMNH 2240.
