Pennsylvanian Lycopod Fossil Root

Here are some fossils provided by Shamalama that are from the famous plant fossil area: Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania. It was found in the Llewellyn Formation and is from 300 million years ago (Pennsylvanian or Late Carboniferous period).

These fossils are the Stigmaria root and the little scar marks are where the rootlets once were.

The fossil fragments are about 15 cm long.
