Pelecypod or Clam: Paracyclas lirata

Here are some images of clams or pelecypods from the Devonian period. They were found in Clark County, Indiana at the Jeffersonville Limestone layer. These clams are known as Paracyclas rugosa or Paracyclas lirata as defined by Conrad in 1838.

This website (www.uky.edu/KGS/fossils/nettelroth.htm) can be helpful when trying to identify shell fossils from the Louisville area.
