This beautiful coral with its circular chambers (corallites) surrounded by different polygons (trigonal, tetragonal, or pentagonal) was found in the Jeffersonville Limestone of Jefferson County, Kentucky. It is thought to be a
Favosites proximatus? coral. The book
Silurian and Devonian Corals of the Falls of the Ohio (Stumm, 1964) was used to identify this specimen. Description on page 64 and plate 61, figures 7-9. Fossil originally called
Favosites proximus by Davis in 1887 and renamed by Stumm in 1950.
