Devonian Period wasp nest coral found in the North Vernon Limestone of Clark County, Indiana.

It does resemble the wasp nest as shown by this actual wasp nest picture from April 2008.

Oooh... I'll play. It is obviously a tabulate. Is it Favosites sp.?

Yes, it is tabulate. I used the generic description because you see these terms in Falls of the Ohio documentation: http://fallsoftheohio.org/fossil_id.html

It is used with the general public since it is easier to remember wasp nest instead of Favosites (for example).

This fossil does look like a Favosites but I believe it is a Pleurodictyum planum?. It was found in the Beechwood Member of the North Vernon Limestone of Clark County, Indiana.
